Sotheby’s International Senior Global Real Estate advisor Harald Grant is one of Southampton’s top sellers for a reason.
Born in Norway, Harald Grant—a gentle giant of a man who once worked his way around the globe as a top model—has represented Sotheby’s International Realty in Southampton for 25 years. He has a heady $2.5 billion in total sales and is the only Hamptons broker ever listed by The Wall Street Journal as the number-one real estate agent nationwide.
Prime locations: “What’s interesting about Gin Lane or Lilly Pond or Meadow Lane,” says Grant, “is that if you mention those streets anywhere in the world, people recognize them as the location you want to be in in the Hamptons, and they hold their value. These neighborhoods attract America’s elite.”
Key listing for 2016: La Dunne, arguably the big kahuna of East End real estate this summer. “The property is 3.7 acres, plus or minus, with 400 feet of oceanfront bulkhead. It has 18 bedrooms between its two houses. I sold the property 20 years ago, and since then they have renovated the main house and added a guest house almost as large as the main house.” The price (it’s a whopper) is available upon request.
Recent sales: “I just had a record sale off the water in Southampton. It was two acres, asking $27 million, and we got $24 million. And last year I sold the Camuto property on the water twice. I sold it to a gentleman who, after six months, put it back on the market, and we sold it again.”
Favorite escape: His Italian motor yacht, an Aicon 75. “I keep it in Sag Harbor, but I’ll go to Shelter Island or Block Island, or just anchor out and enjoy.” 50 NY-27A, Southampton, 283-0600
