On the heels of Noir Anthracite’s launch, Tom Ford’s latest release of three fragrances creates the ultimate in unisex luxe.
In the process of launching three new private Oud collection fragrances—Oud Minérale, Oud Wood Intense and Tobacco Oud Intense—Tom Ford looked back to where his fragrance fascination began. It started with his first three Oud scents; the original launched in 2007 followed by two more in 2013. All unisex in nature, the scents have grown to a portfolio of 29. At Men’s Fashion Week this summer, Ford launched Noir Anthracite, a scent that sets the brilliance of bergamot and spice against rich black woods. In true Ford fashion, he describes the duality of the Noir man as mirroring the dynamic tension between contrasts, where the high-shine glare against gray metal and the black veins of Macassar pour into primal night.
Tobacco Oud Intense, 50 ml for $310, Oud Minérale, 50 ml for $230, and Oud Wood Intense, 50 ml for $310, all at tomford.com.
With this latest launch, the fashion designer-turned-director and producer wanted to create something surprising and unprecedented. By combining two elements from completely different worlds, the new expression of oud is as addictive as it is inventive. Oud Minérale’s key ingredients include salty seaweed, pink peppercorn and fir balsam, and the fragrance gently mixes oud with the fresh exuberance of a play on surf and sea, packaged in an extravagant dark-gray, private-blend bottle. Oud Wood Intense has dimensions of oud at its richest saturation with key notes of angelica roots, ginger, cypress and juniper, packaged in a bottle with the sleek architectural look of a chess piece. Finally, Tobacco Oud Intense is a mix of tobacco leaf and rare oud with a spicy-woody oriental fragrance that is smoky and smooth, packaged in a subtle metallic pearl-effect bottle with a luxurious silver-toned metal plaque.
With Noir Anthracite, the launch of the hyperexclusive private Oud collections and a new flagship store on Madison Avenue in New York, Ford is on fire.
