Wainscott's in-demand celebrity facialist launches a skincare line.
Part of the thrill of experiencing FaceXercise is finding this under-the-radar skin fitness studio quietly tucked away in Wainscott’s business center (for the record, take the West, not East, Gate Road off Montauk Highway). Once you locate this Zen-like dojo of facial fitness, you’ll succumb to the extensive skills of its owner, celebrity facialist Thuyen Nguyen. A creator of a famous holistic technique, Nguyen is particularly beloved by Uma Thurman, Jennifer Aniston, Cindy Crawford, Natalie Portman and Eva Mendes, especially around awards season (rumor has it Amal Clooney flew him to London before the royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to help her with her glow).
The philosophy of FaceXercise, a blood-pumping, skin-tapping and sculpting regimen, is so logical, it’s surprising it’s not practiced more widely. “Why are we only working on our body muscles and are forgetting about the face?” Nguyen asks, explaining his theory while rapidly moving fingers across my cheeks, forehead and jawline in a flow that felt like a rigorous facial workout. “My technique stimulates circulation and improves skin elasticity. Think of this as a natural filler.” For best results, Nguyen recommends one monthly session to help recapture muscle memory. He also just launched a 13-piece skincare line full of age-defying ingredients from France that features nourishing serums and potions for both night and day. As for my inaugural FaceXercise session, I left feeling relaxed and educated in all things dermis. My skin had a healthy glow, with no trace of the puffiness and water retention I struggled with that day, and the kind of suppleness one gets after an inversion therapy. “If you can’t come back soon, remember to massage your face in the shower,” Nguyen said as I was leaving. “It’s a pretty logical thing to do.” 383 Montauk Highway, Wainscott, 631.537.6300, facexercisestudios.com
