Patrick Galway, Managing Director of Town & Country Real Estate in Westhampton Beach, has the scoop on what to do and where to linger on the East End's western frontier.
What’s your favorite Hamptons town? East Quogue, Quogue, and Westhampton Beach all have fabulous beaches, which I’ve been drawn to ever since I was a young boy. All are easily accessible on bicycle, and the beaches continue to be the biggest draw to our area.
What’s the best spot for a quick bite? The local fruit stands in East Quogue and Westhampton Beach, as well as Mambo Kitchen in Westhampton Beach (103 Main St., 631-684- 9269; mambokitchens.com) and Beth’s Cafe in Quogue (48 Quogue St., 631-653-0222; bethscafequogue.com).
Go-to place for dinner and drinks? Dockers Waterside in East Quogue (94 Dune Road, 631-653-0653; dockerswaterside.com) is always spectacular to visit on your boat. It’s the best waterfront setting on the East End for drinks and food. Stone Creek Inn (405 Montauk Hwy., East Quogue, 631-653-6770; stonecreekinn.com) expanded its terrific menu and continues to be my favorite destination for dinner.
Where do you like to spend your weekends? I love spending time with my three young daughters and my wife at the Surf Club of Quogue (54 Dune Road, 631-653-4272; surfclubofquogue.com) on the ocean. Also relaxing on our boat, visiting small islands and restaurants along Shinnecock Bay, which has the most waterfront dining in all of the Hamptons. Quogue Community Hall (125 Jessup Ave., 631-653-8955; hamptontheatre.org) always has some great theater performances, and Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center (76 Main St., 631-288- 1500; whbpac.org) has had some great shows. I’ve seen acts like Elvis Costello, Deborah Harry, Rufus Wainwright, and many others.
What is it about working in real estate that gives you the inside scoop? An inside view comes from my many years of experience on the East End, along with the experience of the 35-plus professionals that I manage in the Town & Country Westhampton Beach office. Real estate is continuously changing and is what drives our economy. It’s exciting to be on the front line of our market.
