THIS YEAR I decided to celebrate the official start of summer with an action-packed, health-focused, mind-andbody soirée. Little did my mom and my friends know what I was signing them up for.
The afternoon started in the water with paddleboarding and kayaking on Sam’s Creek in Bridgehampton. My favorite yogi and paddleboard enthusiast, Jessica Bellofatto, came along to give us tips. After we fully exhausted our arms and abs, we took to the sand for a barefoot beach run and some sun salutations. When it was time for refueling, we still had enough daylight left to gather around a beachside bonfire for a meal of local ingredients. I wish every day could be this long.
Everything served was either picked or caught on June 21
• Pickled radishes
• Grilled zucchini and squash with mint and extra virgin olive oil
• Raw summer rolls with peanut-cilantro sauce
• Grilled scallops
• Banana-leaf-wrapped blackfish with purple sticky rice
