At Therapy Life & Style, longtime Southampton resident Kelly Kirk offers personal attention and brands you’ll find nowhere else on the East End.
This summer, Kelly Kirk of Therapy Life & Style celebrates 10 years at the helm of her Southampton boutique (she has another location in Sayville), but she’s been in the fashion business much longer. She has worked for Bloomingdale’s, Saks Fifth Avenue, and the trend retailer LF, and she even owned Offshore Surf & Sport in Southampton at one point. But the combination of beach living and a thriving boutique is what’s kept Kirk going for the last decade.
“I was raised in Rockaway Beach, but I’ve been a Southampton resident since I was 17,” she says. “I went to Southampton College, and once I figured out what the Hamptons was, I never really left!”
The Southampton shop, located in the Masonic Lodge on Main Street, began as a small venture in the courtyard of Jobs Lane and has moved several times since then. It’s been in its current space for three years, and Kirk enjoys being one of the few year-round stores in town. “I rely on the locals heavily,” she says, “as much as I do the summer crowd.”
It’s also a place where mothers and daughters can shop together. “I don’t want to put an age on who is buying our stuff,” Kirk says. “At Therapy, what you’ll see is what you can’t find anywhere else. I don’t want to sell what the store next to me has.”
That means one-of-a-kind pieces from select designers and artisans worldwide, and small runs of styles in each of her locations. 38 Main St., Southampton, 259-2555
