Entertain in style with Oscar de la Renta’s Dip Dye Fish water jug ($175).
His swishy day dresses and elegant eveningwear are worn by the likes of Sarah Jessica Parker and Kelly Ripa and brighten East End soirées throughout the season, but this summer Oscar de la Renta’s creations will be displayed in Hamptons homes. His Island Gift and Entertaining Collection, an ode to beach life, is defined by a color palette inspired by the sea and sky. The collection uses brushstroke and ikat patterns along with teak, sterling silver, and handblown glass—aesthetics and materials that flawlessly fit with East End interior design. Together with Home Creative Director Miles Redd, de la Renta built the collection around pieces for entertaining, including table linens, cocktail sets, and julep cups, then complemented it with home accents such as picture frames and resin trays.
A whimsical standout is a fun and functional water jug. Each earthenware pitcher goes through several stages before the perfect ocean-blue ombré finish is achieved. “The Dip Dye Fish water jug is a very versatile summer entertaining accessory—you can dress it up and dress it down,” Redd says. “The color combination of blue and white is classic and sophisticated, while the fish shape makes it fun and laid-back, with a nod to island style.”
Recipes straight from de la Renta’s kitchen accompany serving items from the collection. As the fish jug was inspired by lazy summer days, the recipe of choice is the designer’s favorite Dominican rum punch—perfect for mixing up and serving poolside.
