What did Mary-Kate Olsen win at The Hampton Classic, and why did Gabby Karan de Felice cook for Barbra Streisand and Jennifer Lopez? Jeffrey Slonim has the scoop on that and more in this week’s Hamptons celebrity news….

Cinema Society and Donna Karan screened The Light Between Oceans with Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander at Donna Karan’s estate on the cliffs in East Hampton’s Northwest Woods. Barbra Streisand and Jennifer Lopez attended, and Karan’s daughter, Gabby Karan de Felice, cooked. She made parmigiana and the house staff baked pizza.
Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are up to much more than designing clothes recently, and Mary-Kate's big win at The Hampton Classic is proof.
Mary-Kate Olsen won her class at The Hampton Classic. The prize money that she pocketed almost competed with the price of a dress by her fashion company, The Row.
At Cindy Sherman’s house for the Perfect Earth Project Biennial Benefit, famed landscape designer Edwina von Gal discussed toxin-free landscapes, which is the whole concept behind the organization. She indicated that golf courses are the worst offenders when it comes to using toxins, and that the Alpha-male, type-A golfers who get up early to play the first round are risking erectile dysfunction from chemicals used on the lawns. Debbie Harry played a full set, as did Rufus Wainwright and Suzanne Vega, who was a few moments tardy to take the stage. Martha Stewart was also there, as was Kyle MacLachlan, who mentioned that he went in the house to spy on Sherman’s parrot. Sherman’s heavenly watefront property with a tidal pond is toxin-free, and a perfect example of how lovely a landscape can be without poison. The food served was organic, by the way.
That evening, Scarlett Johansson and Dave Chappelle were spotted in a limo negotiating traffic. And George Stephanopoulos was seen carrying a computer on the streets of Southampton.
Georgina Bloomberg and her son, Jasper, at The Hampton Classic.
Donna Karan and Gabby attended The Hampton Classic Grand Prix. Karan Sr. was wearing a boot on her foot, and had stepped in a hole, according to Gabby. The Karans were seated at the Calvin Klein table, while Brooke Shields was a guest of Firefly Farm. We also spotted Madonna at one of the grassy private chalet lunch areas across the course.
Georgina Bloomberg, who neither placed on Sunday nor took a ribbon, joined her dad, Michael Bloomberg’s, lunch table. Georgina’s son Jasper also turned up in a striped jacket, shorts, and a cute bow tie.
Meanwhile, Jill Zarin was barefoot in the Longines chalet, where pricey watches were being passed out to winning riders. Jill’s husband, Bobby, and her daughter, Ally, who now works for Douglas Elliman, wore shoes.
Speaking of Douglas Elliman, Dottie Herman hosted an elegant lunch for the real estate brand in a chalet next door, and took stragglers to Kozu for an impromptu after-fête.
Gary Clark Jr. played The Surf Lodge that evening. There, we spotted Peter Brant Jr., Caroline Vreeland, Princess Maria-Olympia of Greece, Steve Kasuba, Rocky Barnes, and Tracy Anderson in a rainbow ensemble.
