As we approach our most patriotic day of the year, it’s a good time to be grateful for all we have here on the East End. A few weeks ago, I was lucky enough to spend a weekend at my dear friends’ home on the bay in Napeague, right down the road from Walking Dunes Trail. Sitting on the second-floor deck on a weathered Adirondack chair overlooking the beautiful bay, I observed the ebb and flow of the tide as the water lapped onto the shoreline. I watched the birds diving for fish, then walked down to the beach to collect shells and sea glass. The moments reminded me of one of my favorite books, Gift from the Sea, in which the author, Anne Morrow Lindbergh, writes beautifully about our connection to nature. The book keeps me grounded in the hectic and frenetic summer season, reminding me that there is no place more beautiful in all the world than here.
Celebrating Memorial Day Weekend in Southampton with News 12’s Elisa DiStefano.
On July 4, we enjoy our freedom and gather with friends and family for relaxation and fun. We acknowledge the birth of our country with fireworks that symbolize our push towards liberty and independence. By the way, no fireworks are more spectacular than the ones we’ll see at the Southampton Fresh Air Home picnic this weekend. Please join me bayside as we help the Fresh Air Home bring joy to young people with disabilities who wouldn’t normally have the opportunity to attend camp.
At the Hither Lea Beach House in Napeague Beach, the family home of Amy Slack and Michael Cinque, with Cinque and Michael Dweck.
You’ll also want to save the date for Saturday, July 8. Join me for the South Fork Natural History Museum’s annual benefit, chaired by Anke and Jürgen Friedrich and Susan and David Rockefeller, where I will be hosting along with Alex Guarnaschelli and Kerry Heffernan.
#SummerofSelf with Tracy Anderson at the Bally store on Madison Avenue in New York.
Visit us, too, at the two-week Market Art and Design fair, where you can view stunning art and sample delicious Godiva goodies from their first-ever food truck, and at Southampton Animal Shelter’s Unconditional Love Gala.
Enjoy all of the events during these two weeks, and look for our next issue of Hamptons on July 14.
I’ll see you in town!
