I have known our cover star, Georgina Bloomberg, for countless years. She’s driven, an expert in her equestrian field, and a continued supporter of the Hampton Classic, which she will be riding in again this summer. The week-long event, from August 28 through September 4, is one of the most compelling spectator sports in the Hamptons. I spend days wandering around the grounds, watching the jumpers, visiting the exhibitors and, of course, the on-site boutiques. The competition is intense and involves riders across all classes, from the Young Jumper Championships to the Hunter Divisions.
My husband David and I, along with Simone and David Levinson, toast David Rockwell’s 60th birthday at the Central Park Zoo.
The event culminates in the Grand Prix ring with the intensely competitive Hamptons Classic Leadline, in which the riders parade their horses in front of the VIP-tent attendees and the winning rider emerges victorious in what is the grandest way to end the season! Tickets can be purchased at HamptonClassic.com. Delve into the world of Georgina Bloomberg in this issue and experience her life on the equestrian circuit in a story penned by sportswriter Ann Liguori. This weekend you can also visit Simone Levinson and I at Intermix in Southampton from 4 to 6 pm; we’ll be giving you our picks for fall, as the shop is going to be staying open year-round. Check out Southampton Sweat, which has an impressive fitness lineup at the Southampton Arts Center; swing by the Artists & Writers charity softball game; and support pet adoption at the Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons’ event in Wainscott.
