TV personality and entrepreneur Jill Zarin hosts her second annual Mophie Presents Jill Zarin's Second Annual Luxury Ladies Luncheon this Sunday. We caught up with the bubbly Hamptonite to find out what she’s most looking forward to at the event and what her summer favorites are out East.

Jill Zarin feels like it’s her wedding night. On Saturday, she’ll banish her beloved husband, Bobby, and invite girlfriends like Patti Stanger and Cynthia Bailey to sleep over her house (“I just want them all in my bed, and we’re going to play Jenga,” Zarin tells us). It’s all in preparation for the original Real Housewives of New York City cast member’s big event on Sunday, July 13—the Mophie Presents Jill Zarin's Second Annual Ladies Luncheon, which supports The Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation, and attracts Hamptons boldfacers like Christie Brinkley, Carol Alt, Kelly Bensimon, LuAnn De Lesseps, Tatiana Platt, and many more.
Add in sponsors like mophie and Douglas Elliman—who will display a model of their new luxury project in Bridgehampton, Barn & Vine—plus a filled-to-the-brim goodie bag with beauty products, gift cards, and mophie chargers, and it’s a party. A soiree of this scale is all in a day’s work for Zarin, whose busy life includes next week’s episode of Celebrity Wife Swap (Tuesday, July 15 at 10 p.m. on ABC), the upcoming Hamptons Happening event on July 26, and a jewelry line, Jill Zarin Fine Jewelry, launching July 23. We caught up with Zarin to find out more about Sunday's event.
Congratulations on the Mophie Presents Jill Zarin's Second Annual Ladies Luncheon. How is this iteration different from the first? JILL ZARIN: Well, I learned a lot from my first event. And I learned that I can’t do everything myself. And I learned that yes, it’s true—I am a bit of a control freak. And that I have to learn to let other people do their jobs and let them help me. I ended up really working at the [first] event and not enjoying it.
What inspired you to do this event? JZ: It’s a very complicated event in the sense that there’s no one reason that I do it. I do it because I want to give stuff to my friends, I do it because I want to raise awareness for charity, and I do it because I want to have a good time.
Tell us what’s in the gift bags. JZ: The gift bags are incredible, loaded with mophie chargers, loaded with a lot of skincare. So you’re going to walk out like it’s Christmas or Hanukkah.
Jill's husband, Bobby (shown here at last year's Luxury Ladies Luncheon), is a two-time cancer survivor.
Why add a philanthropic element? JZ: My husband Bobby is a two-time cancer survivor and we will always be battling that disease. I met Sam Waxman [the man behind The Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation] on a cruise in February. And I can tell you that if you unfortunately look outside my window on Sunday, a good chunk of the people have been affected by cancer or will have cancer in their lifetime of some sort, hopefully curable—and the only reason why it’s curable is because of research. Without research there would never be cures and treatments. Cancer is a very ugly, painful disease. Nobody wants it; nobody wishes it on their worst enemy, and so, if I can do anything to raise money and awareness for cancer, being that it has affected my family, my husband, that’s what my goal is. We also have the Red Cross here and we’re very involved in the Red Cross. There are so many New Yorkers who are homeless and in trouble. Rich, poor, no matter where you live. When a hurricane hits, when a storm hits, when tragedy hits—a fire, a flood—it sees no race, color, or whether you’re rich or poor, and that’s why I love the Red Cross.
What kind of food will you serve? JZ: Carlyle on the Green is doing all the food for free. You know why? He’s donating it all to The Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation, because he knows the money is going to them. He’s doing a slider bar.
Would you ever consider doing this event somewhere else? JZ: I’m thinking of doing it at Art Basel.
You’re a very busy woman, and so are a lot of the guest you’re expecting on Sunday. Why do you think it’s important to always carve out time for pampering and beauty services? JZ: Because we’re all running around so fast, we never have time to get a manicure. I haven’t had a manicure in like three weeks. So hopefully my girls will be able sit down and we’re going to have manicures, pedicures, makeup, massages, skincare treatments, and facials, and all that good stuff that we never have time for. I mean it takes a village. We don’t wake up like this.
Jill (shown here with her dog Ginger, husband Bobby, and daughter Ally) gets through a hectic schedule by putting family first.
From appearing on reality TV to hosting live events, you’ve been in a lot of real-time, tough-to-handle situations. What’s your best tip for dealing with pressure when the spotlight is on you? JZ: Try to look on the bright side. But also breathe—I’ve learned a lot about yoga and breathing thanks to my daughter, Ally, who grounds me and brings me back down to Earth sometimes, when she thinks I’m too out there. And just remember it’s all about family. It’s all about the family, and of course my family will be here [on Sunday].
Anything else you’re looking forward to this summer? JZ: Hamptons Happening, which is for The Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation. I’m co-chairing it and it’s a big responsibility.
What are your favorite spots out East for food and drinks? JZ: For food: 75 Main, Cowfish, and Oakland. Those are my three favorites. Why? Because they’re casual and the food is delicious and that’s what I’m looking for. And also I love the view of Cowfish, and they have a little boat that goes to their other restaurant, Rumba. You can literally go on the boat with your drink back and forth. It’s so much fun. Oh, I like Topping Rose House, too. For a date night, a fancy night, we love Topping Rose House. My favorite lunch food is the Chinese chicken salad at Bobby Van’s.
