With Labor Day weekend (aka the unofficial end of the summer) fast approaching, it’s your last chance to do it up big in the Hamptons. What better way to do so than with an epic road trip, or shall we say #FoodTrip, from Southampton to Montauk. From the perfect ride to the most delicious food spots, here’s your itinerary for an end-of-summer #FoodTrip you won’t forget.
We can’t think of a better road trip ride than Audi’s 2018 Q5. The newly redesigned car is luxurious inside and out, and offers tons of room for family and friends to join the fun. The best part? The car has a Wifi hotspot, which means you and your passengers can share your road trip adventures and food pics on Instagram without missing a beat.
Where to Go for Breakfast: Southhampton
First stop: Breakfast at 75 Main in Southampton. Grab a seat outside and order crab cake benedict or Instagram-worthy Belgium waffles topped with fresh berries and whipped cream. Or, go for the gold with French toast loaded with vanilla ice cream—because ice cream for breakfast is totally acceptable when you’re on a #FoodTrip. 75 Main St., Southampton, 631-283-7575
Time to hop back into the Q5. Thanks to all new lightweight suspension, you’re in for a smooth ride to your next destination. Not only can this bad boy go from 0-60 miles per hour in 5.9 seconds, it’s great on gas too thanks to an EPA-estimated 27 mpg on the highway. That means you’ll have more money in your pocket to splurge on food. Win, win.
Where to Go for Lunch: Sag Harbor
We hope you’re no longer full from breakfast because it’s about to go down at LT Burger in Sag Harbor. This burger hotspot serves up mouthwatering 8 oz certified angus beef burgers cooked to order on a toasted potato bun. You can go with something standard (lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle) or be adventurous with the Mexican burger (chili, guac, jalapeño) or the dirty chicken (smoked gouda, frizzle onion, bbq mayo). Whatever you order, save some room for the death by Oreo shake. We hear it’s divine. 62 Main St., Sag Harbor, 631-899-4646
Back to the Q5. If you haven’t already, be sure to sync your smartphone to the car. This lets you access your phone’s features such as navigation, phone calls, and music by the voice control system, which means a safer drive. Speaking of safe, if you have little ones in the car, there’s no need to worry. Audi’s Pre Sense has got you covered incase of an unexpected emergency or maneuver. All you have to do is enjoy the drive.
Where to Go for Dinner: Montauk
Situated on a private beach, the picturesque Navy Beach Restaurant is the epitome of summer in the Hamptons. You’ll have a front row seat right in the sand to watch the most awe-inspiring sunset as you dig into delicious seafood dishes. Think crispy Portuguese octopus with sunchokes and green chili aioli, fire roasted sea scallops alongside cauliflower puree, and Atlantic Salmon atop soba noodles and baby bok choy. Also, a glass (or two) of rosé is a must here. 16 Navy Rd., Montauk, 631-668-6868
There’s no better way to end such an epic day than by blasting your favorite tunes on your drive home. Look forward to a killer Bang & Olufsen sound system (complete with 19 speakers!) that makes the SUV feel like a party on wheels.
