The holiday season in New York City is filled with ice skating rinks, winter markets, the rockettes, and of course, the coveted window displays at our favorite department stores. Each year, visitors and locals alike flock to some of the city’s finest retail locations to check out their extravagant and artistic window presentations—and this year promises to be no different with a must-see spectacle at Bergdorf Goodman.
Paying homage to seven of New York City’s well-know cultural institutions such as the American Museum of Natural History, the Brooklyn Academy of Music, The New York Botanical Gardens, and the New-York Historical Society, Bergdorf Goodman captures the city’s appreciation for art, history, music, and film with their presentation entitled, “To New York With Love”.
“While exploring this theme, we knew the windows had to be dynamic and multilayered to evoke the excitement of New York today, while simultaneously celebrating the city’s past" says David Hoey, Director of Visual Presentation. "Our institutional partners provided an array of subject matter to inspire us, so we crafted a completely different type of window for each organization. And since we love putting on a show, we have made the windows kaleidoscopic and entertaining."
As onlookers peruse the windows, they can expect to see displays featuring bejeweled dinosaurs, a large-screen montage of black-and-white films clips, soft-sculpture plant life, neon musical instruments, papier-mâché portraits and sculptures, and signature glass objects created at UrbanGlass in Brooklyn.
The special holiday display will be on view along 5th Avenue in both the Women’s and Men’s Stores.
