We caught up with supermodel Christie Brinkley at the launch of Beverly Hills: City of WELLTH to chat about everything from working out to her new prosecco line.
On finding nirvana
"Balance is everything. When you’re out of balance, you’re just not feeling right. We tend to be hard on ourselves when we have that mozzarella. We should try our very best, to do our very best because that’s when we feel our very best. When we incorporate a healthy diet and movement into our lives – that’s a gift for ourselves. Life is short. It’s also having priorities and knowing what your priorities are. I have been a working mom my whole life but I have always known my priorities are my children. I start everything with their schedules in mind – and I still do even though they are grown."
On maintaining the best summer physique
"The spinning classes get you to your summer body the fastest. Soul Cycle, Peloton – Peloton has these new bikes you can have at home now that are amazing. That makes it so easy. The amount of calories you burn on there! It’s fun and it’s challenging. I really do use my Total Gym. When we started out twenty years ago, I don’t think we really understood the science like we do now. Now they are saying to stretch and lengthen and then contract a muscle – in this form – using your own body weight – similar to yoga is the very best thing you can do for your body. It not only tones, it keeps muscle long and lean and reduces chances for injury."
On her favorite spot to workout in the Hamptons
"Yoga Shanti – its Colleen Saidman and Rodney Yee – the famous yoga gurus. It is so amazing to have them in our little village of Sag Harbor and get their wisdom. Colleen has said some things during her sessions that have really resonated with me. So I love it as much for her talks as much as I do for how my body feels coming out of there."
On her favorite food and beverage spots in the Hamptons
"Tutto Il Giorno! They have a beautiful garden in the back – you can sit outside. Right now, the pink flowers are everywhere – on the ground, in the trees. You sit out there and they bring out all the Italian food. There is another spot in Sag Harbor – Dopo. That’s the same kind of vibe but it’s on the water. You sit under the trees – it’s a theme. I like to be able to sit outside. Trees and bubbles!"
On her vegan, organic Bellissima Prosecco
"I have an Italian Prosecco, Bellissima Prosecco. I have a brut, a sparkling rose and zero sugar wine. I didn’t realize until I became a vintner that if it’s not certified vegan – it is strained through all kinds of really gross things – like filtered through fish guts or different kinds of bladders. Bellissima Prosecco is certified vegan, all natural and organic. When you drink my prosecco, you’re avoiding an average of fifty-two chemicals that would otherwise be on the grape. And it’s delicious!"
