Who: Britt Maren, 26
Why you know her: She has walked runways from New York to Milan to Paris, but this blonde Texan took her career-defining turn opening Alexander Wang’s Spring 2011 show and set fashion’s collective tongue wagging. “That show exposed me to a lot of different people and took me to the next level,” says Maren. Since then, she has done campaigns with Isabel Marant, Balenciaga, Sephora, and Garnier.
Fast-forward to now: Along with her husband, New York-based caterer Derek Orrell, Maren is planning to open a bakery and restaurant in Austin, Texas, where they keep a home. “Derek would be the food side and I’d be involved in design and business management. I’m organized and love to plan. I also love to bake and have a giant sweet tooth.”
On becoming a lifestyle brand: Maren recently launched a website, BrittMaren.com, indulging in her obsessions with wellness, fashion, beauty, and food. “People are always asking me what I do to stay in shape or what I use to wash my face, so I wanted to share what I’m lusting after,” she says.
Go-to Montauk spots: She loves hanging at Ruschmeyer’s, where Orrell used to help run the kitchen. And they enjoy toting their puggle, Zeus, to the dog park at Montauk Point State Park. Says Maren, “It’s this big open field and he gets in the water and loves it.”
