In honor of Hamptons magazine’s 35th anniversary, we’re taking a sartorial look back on Hamptons styles of yesteryear every Friday.
Christie Brinkley and daughter Alexa Ray Joel play ball at the Artist vs. Writers Softball Game in 1989.
Though Christie Brinkley's ensemble itself is a little outdated 24 years later, the basic equation of t-shirt, jeans, and sneakers never goes out of style—especially in a situation where comfort is key like the Artists vs. Writers Softball Game. Brinkley topped her style off with a baseball hat supporting hometown team the New York Mets, and accessorized the whole look with a winning smile. Plus, how cute is she passing the ball to adorable daughter Alexa Ray Joel, then 3?
This year's Artists vs. Writers Softball Game takes place tomorrow (Saturday, August 17) at 2 p.m. at Herrick Park in East Hampton. For more information, visit artistswritersgame.org.

“Every time I put them in my hands, I feel the energy of the stones,” says Roni Blanshay, the creative force behind her eponymous line of glittering accoutrements. Though her current aesthetic is distinguished by ample Swarovski crystals and vibrantly colored genuine stones, balanced with neutral, natural materials, Blanshay first entered the fashion realm as a denim designer in the 1980s. A move from Canada to New York five years ago marked her entry into jewelry design, and now Blanshay gleans inspiration from her new settings, which includes the Hamptons.

London Jewelers brings acclaimed brands including Buccellati, Bulgari, and Raymond Weil to the East End; on August 17 from noon to 5 pm, the boutique is hosting a personal appearance by Monica Rich Kosann, whose guilloche lockets were inspired by the Hamptons. “All the engravings found on the vintage watches and cigarette cases I find antiquing here have similar features in my collection,” says Kosann. The lockets can be customized, as “the look a woman creates with [her] jewelry can become distinctly her own.” 47 Main St., Southampton, 287-4499
