Chef’s Choice: Eat Like Eric Ripert

May 21, 2012 | East End Eats

I have had a house in the Hamptons since 1999 that I enjoy every summer, but also very often in the winter. The house is in the middle of the woods, in Noyac. When I cook at home and entertain, I always go to local stands like Halsey Farm (513 Deerfield Road, Water Mill). Over the years I have developed many friendships with restaurateurs and chefs. In no special order, here is a list of some of my favorite restaurants and what I like to order.

The shellfish platter at The American Hotel. 45 Main St., Sag Harbor, 725-3535

Halibut en papillote at Beacon Restaurant. 8 W. Water St., Sag Harbor 725-7088

Local steamers at Dockside Bar & Grill. 26 Bay St., Sag Harbor, 725-710

Wood oven-roasted whole branzino with eggplant caponata at Nick & Toni’s. 136 N. Main St., East Hampton, 324-3550

Margherita pizza at Serafina. 104 N. Main St., East Hampton, 267-3500

Spaghetti alla bolognese at Sant Ambroeus. 30 Main St., Suite A, Southampton, 283-1233

Maine lobster fricassée, flambé with cognac and tarragon at the legendary Pierre’s. 2468 Main St., Bridgehampton, 537-5110

The Sunset Beach burger and frites. 35 Shore Road, Shelter Island, 749-2001

Mussels at The Surf Lodge. 183 Edgemere St., Montauk, 668-1568
