My Southampton: Dr. Gervaise Gerstner

When renowned L’Oréal Paris consulting dermatologist Dr. Gervaise Gerstner isn’t practicing in NYC, she’s summering in Southampton—with a healthy dose of sunscreen, of course! Below, Dr. Gerstner shares her local favorites, as well as a special look at her beloved beauty and wellness spots.
Favorite Restaurant – I’m a fan of Organic Avenue (28 Jobs Lane, Southampton, 283-2600)—the green coco juice is my favorite. I would never be able to juice for more than a half day, but almost daily, I add one to my lunch so I can skip salad and get my veggie boost for beautiful skin by just drinking my veggies. My favorite quick picnic lunch is Organic Avenue’s green coco juice with ANY lobster roll (for example, from Cantena’s market), and my favorite dessert from Tate’s Bakery (43 North Sea Road, Southampton, 283-9830)—vanilla petit fours!
Favorite Nightlife Spot – When hosting out-of-town guests, I like to take them to relax by The Capri (281 County Road, 39A Rte. 27, Southampton, 504-6575) pool and then for dinner at Nobu (281 County Road, 39A, Southampton, 488-4248). Since we usually hit the pool during the day, I never forget my sunscreen—L’Oréal Paris Sublime Sun Collection is my go-to, and thankfully, they are this summer’s official sun sponsor at The Capri!
Favorite Event of the Summer – For ogling the best eye candy, I like to watch Nacho Figueras play polo in Bridgehampton. I also like to get into the summer festive/relaxation mood with Veuve Clicquot. Go Black Watch!
Favorite Best-Kept Secret – To unwind (and ward off stress-induced wrinkles!), I like to meditate at Dune Church in Southampton, right by Cooper's Beach. I also love Namaste, a home massage service (212-535-5535). Owners Julie and Michael Wald offer a concierge of wellness and will send a masseuse, Pilates, or yoga expert to your Hamptons home. I personally do massages, even though I should be adding more Pilates now that it’s bikini season!
Favorite Beauty Fix – For a mani/pedi, I go to Style Bar (1 Bay St., Sag Harbor 725-6730), or when I’m in a hurry, I head to Hana Nails & Spa (18 Windmill Lane, Southampton, 204-9200). I’m especially loving the new L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Nail in Wishful Pinking.
When it comes to hair, I’m partial to my beachy blonde from Brad Johns at Saks Salon in NYC, but out East, I get a blowout at 27 Hampton (27 Hampton Road, Southampton, 377-3107). To save my hair from the damage that all-day swimming sessions causes (my kids are in the pool all day), I love L’Oréal EverStrong Deep Conditioning Treatment. The salon also offers a fabulous airbrush tan, which L’Oréal Paris Sublime Bronze Clear Self-Tanning Gel is great at maintaining in between sessions.
