My Montauk: Cynthia Rowley

June 11, 2012 | At Home

NYC-based designer Cynthia Rowley spends most of her time creating fashion-week-worthy clothing for her eponymous line, but come the warmer months, her life gets a little more laid-back out East. Below, Cynthia shares her favorite spots to spend time in Montauk—when she's not surfing, of course.

Favorite Restaurant - Everything is so crowded at the beach, you never want to tell anyone your favorite restaurant! And we really do cook at home a lot, and hang out at friends’ houses. But I guess if I’m forced to spill, hands down, The Crow’s Nest (4 Old West Lake Dr., Montauk, 668-2077).

Favorite Nightlife - A bonfire on the beach.

Favorite Event of the Summer - Bob Melet’s epic Fourth of July garage sale. (Melet Mercantile, 102 Industrial Rd., Montauk, 668-9080)

Favorite Farm Stand - I try to grow my own produce!

Favorite Place to Shop - The Cynthia Rowley Montauk store (696 Montauk Hwy., Montauk, 668-8077)  for fashion and wetsuits, but for delicious treats, the new Momofuku Milk Bar (696 Montauk Hwy., Montauk). If you’re further west, our pop-up at the Capri (281 County Rd., Southampton, 504-6575) is another good place to shop.

Favorite Local Best-Kept Secret - It won’t be a secret for long, but my friend Tiina Laakkonen’s new shop Tiina the Store (216 Main St., Amagansett, 267-6200).
