LongHouse's 'Planters: On + Off The Ground' Competition
June 20, 2012 | At Home
Garden designers and planting enthusiasts alike are anticipating the fifth annual "Planters: On + Off The Ground V" competition this Saturday, June 23rd at The LongHouse Reserve (4:30-6 PM). This year’s event—judged by landscape painter April Gornik, architect Fred Stelle, and famed Food Network host Ina Garten—will also include a people’s choice award, where attendees can pick their favorite garden container from 29 participants.
LongHouse founder Jack Larsen, co-chairs Elizabeth Lear and Edwina von Gal, and the LongHouse Reserve Garden Committee will serve as hosts. Connecticut’s Broken Arrow Nursery is set to present a selection of rare plant material for sale, the proceeds of which will partially benefit the LongHouse Reserve. Each of the garden containers will be on display through July 28, and the event is made possible with support from RB Irrigation.
To purchase tickets ($10 for members, $20 for non-members), call Joanne Sohn at 329-3568, or visit longhouse.org for more information. 133 Hands Creek Road, East Hampton, NY
