The East End’s most enviable rooms rely on home accoutrements that capture the region’s spectacular natural setting with an air of refinement. The Skatemoderne Gia table does just that: “It brings in a little of that organic nature with the geodes and the texture—not in an earthy way, but in a really upscale, chic way,” says interior designer Tracy Bross, whose designs fill homes from Shelter Island to Southampton. The striking table’s unusual aesthetic emerges out of the mixture of a sea foam hue, a faux shagreen texture, a Lucite body, and a deco-inspired shape.
Bross believes the table can be used traditionally but also a bit more creatively. Designed by Skatemoderne’s Michelle Bergeron, two tables work beautifully on either side of a white linen couch in a living room for a “symmetrical pop of color,” explains Bross. Or for added luxury, she suggests staging the table in a bathroom with a small chair to transform the often white, airy space into a “girl’s special hideaway.” With the piece, a bathroom takes on a fresh layer of extravagance, as it is truly “a piece of art,” says Bross. “There is that super-fabulous ‘look what I have in my bathroom amongst my jewelry is this jewel of a little table’ [element].”
