I’ve known Kelly a long time. Her genuine energy is something most people wish to have. Her beauty truly comes from within, and her clear internal compass and well-balanced lifestyle is what makes her an arbiter for what’s hot.
There’s no secret to Kelly’s body. She’s always been on the path to pursue constant well-being: 25 percent exercise, 25 percent eating well, and 100 percent loving life. Kelly always made it her life choice to be healthy, regardless of any circumstances. She can’t transform anyone into a rock star, but she can show you how to rock—what you do with it is your choice. That’s Kelly Bensimon. Her journey is just starting. If the past is a prologue, we are in for a good ride.
Discovery: Aerin Lauder introduced me to
an amazing trainer who was obsessed with
workouts using a fitness ball. He taught me a
great abdominal workout, and that was the
beginning of when I had a more defined
stomach, after having two kids.
Why I Love It: This is the perfect example
of being playful instead of working out.
Here I just started doing “around the worlds”
with a ball, and I could feel it everywhere. In
fact, this photo shoot inspired me to create a
new workout using the ball in different ways.
Health Benefits: I have found that doing
sit-ups on the ball as opposed to a flat
surface supports your lower back and
focuses on abs, and you get your back and
front muscles working together.
Hamptons Workout: I love working out
with the ball in the backyard with my kids. I
try to do exercises with my kids that are fun
and we can do for a while, then walk away; I
don’t want them to feel like fitness is a chore
that must be done for a set amount of time.

Discovery: Growing up, my best
friend was 5-foot-1, and I’m 5-foot-10, so
I was always hunching over. Resistance
training helped me learn to love my
height, build stronger shoulders and
back, and develop better posture.
Why I Love It: Just like you should
always dress for the job you want, I
believe you should always stand like the
person you want to be. To have good
posture, you need to have a strong body.
Health Benefits: Unlike dumbbells
that target specific muscles, resistance
bands work a series of muscles
simultaneously.
Hamptons Workout: Bands are
great because you can travel with them
and they’re great for a fun backyard
workout with the kids.

Discovery: While I’m not a big fan of
weight training, when I do it, squats
and lunges with heavy weights are my
go-to. And the heavier the better—I
learned that from Gabrielle Reece. If
it’s good enough for Gabby Reece, it’s
good enough for me!
Health Benefits: If you do lower
reps with heavier weights, you’ll
pump a lot of blood into those large
muscle groups quickly, and you’ll look
more toned faster. In my opinion, it’s
the fountain of youth in terms of
weight training.
Hamptons Workout: If I am going
to the gym, I visit
East Hampton Gym. However, if
you run after your kids on the beach,
there’s no need for squats. My favorite
beach is Wiborg Beach.

Discovery: I was turned on to yoga by
Jessica Seinfeld. After I had kids, I was very
impressed by her tight post-baby body. So
every Monday, we’d organize a yoga group
and all practice together outside on a
friend’s covered porch.
Why I Love It: I believe you are as old as
you are limber. When I was a competitive
swimmer, I was doing a lot of weight training,
but I could hardly move. I have a much
greater range of motion now thanks to yoga.
Plus, yoga has taught me to be grateful for
exercise and all the things my body can do.
Hamptons Workout: I love the classes
at
Mandala Yoga in Amagansett Square.
