Wearing exercise clothes all day is worse than wearing mom jeans. The only person who can wear leggings after 11 AM is Jillian Michaels—because that’s her job. I actually think my kids would be OK with me in leggings versus wearing the same tailored Sportsman riding pants every Saturday and Sunday. But since my girls are tweens and obsessed with “Who Wore It Best” in US Weekly, I have to step up my weekend look.

While filming The Real Housewives of New York, I wore a blazer all the time; it definitely completes a casual look. Now I’m turning reality into Theory and wearing Olivier Theyskens’s relaxed tweed version. A loose-fitting blazer is my new jean jacket. For a recent bike cruise around town, I paired it with red Loomstate Organic jeans, Minnetonkas, a J.Crew tee and, of course, my vintage rose-gold watch and “gold” hoop earrings from Claire’s.

To all those hard-core cyclists, I commend you—truthfully, I’m a beach-cruiser-with-a-basket, running-an-errand kind of girl. But whether I’m pedaling to IGA supermarket or all the way down to Sag Harbor to LT Burger for my favorite vegetable salad and burger, my kids can’t complain that I don’t look US Weekly-worthy. Honestly, I still like wearing my nautical shirt and riding pants. But for my kids, I will do just about anything.
