When Essie Weingarten has a beauty secret to share, she leans in, taps your shoulder and switches on her library voice. Such was the case when Weingarten, founder and president of Essie Cosmetics, divulged to us her favorite East Hampton masseuse. After spilling the secret, she threw up her hands and said, “[But] if you give his name away, I’ll never be able to get an appointment!”

A year-round resident of Wainscott, Weingarten is low-maintenance despite a high-profile brand and serious beauty clout. She loves tending to her garden (which yields fresh basil and rosemary), throwing backyard barbecues and antiquing. “I do a lot of the estate sales; I just see the signs and I stop,” she says. Unlike the anonymous masseuse, the nail-polish powerhouse has plenty of beauty secrets she is willing to share.

Nail Tip: “Apricot cuticle oil every day. You’ll never get hangnails, and your nails will always look like you just walked out of a salon.”

On Essie's New Braziliant Collection: “Absolutely Shore, a sea-foam green, is to die for. It’s gorgeous!”

Best Nail Salon: “Spa 27. Anita’s girls are all well trained. They all work the same way. Salon Xavier has amazing girls as well, but to get an appointment is not that easy.”

Beauty Bag Essentials: “My SPF is really important. Of course I need a gloss and my Lancôme pencil. As long as my lips and my nails are done, I’m happy.”

Trusted Makeup Artist: “Jennifer Nam. If I say to her I’m doing a dinner party or TV, she just does my makeup and I don’t even have to look in the mirror.”

Mane Man: “God does my color, but I go to Salon Xavier for my cut. I’ve been going there since he opened up. I also go to Valery Joseph Salon sometimes.”

Shops She Loves: “My favorite shop in the whole wide world is Gail Rothwell. I also love J.Crew-at-the-Beach, and Shoe-Inn for shoes; in the winter they have my Uggs.”

Lunch with the Ladies: “Tutto Il Giorno, Sant Ambroeus, the Beacon and Trata for appetizers.”

Summer Social Calendar: “I always look forward to Super Saturday—it’s such a great cause. And Chefs & Champagne. Last year I think that was the ultimate event I went to.”
