David Loewenberg

David Loewenberg has his hands in more restaurants than anyone else on the East End, and now he’s juggling one more. The restaurateur behind redbar, little red, The Beacon, and Fresno has taken over the Sag Harbor waterfront space, which formerly housed Oasis, at 3253 Noyac Road on Mill Creek Marina. Loewenberg and executive chef and partner Sam McCleland, chef and co-owner of The Beacon, will open the space this May as Anchor. (McCleland and Loewenberg met in the '90s, when they both worked at Nick and Toni’s.)

Anchor’s new American menu will focus on seafood, such as whole lobsters and lobster rolls, shellfish platters, and fish of the day, as well as steaks and chops for land lovers.

The open room, with its breathtaking view, is being decorated in white with sea green and blue accents. Plank floors and large wooden tables convey country charm while banquette seating will provide a cozier alternative. “Our idea is to make it look like it’s been there forever,’’ said Loewenberg.

Anchor, which will be open year-round, is nearly twice as big as The Beacon, and the owners plan on taking reservations. “It’s exciting to have this much space around us; the kitchen is about four times the size of Beacon’s,’’ said Loewenberg. “A lot of people in this area want seafood and lobster and drive out to Montauk for it. Now we have the room to make it here.’’
