Photographer Rosemarie Abrams on Finding Inspiration from East Hamptons' Scenic Beaches
As told to Tiffany Frasier| October 10, 2016 |
Photographer Rosemarie Abrams finds inspiration in the scenic beaches of East Hampton.
“Part of the fun is looking at the screen and seeing how my vision translates in real life,” says Rosemarie Abrams.
“What started as just a hobby has become a passion. I always carry my camera with me. There are several times during the day when I see a unique moment, then point and shoot. Part of the fun is looking at the screen and seeing how my vision translates in real life.
“Living in Springs, I am motivated to capture all that is around me because the area is so beautiful. I gravitate towards scenes that involve landscapes. The woodlands, bays, and hiking trails are my go-to settings to shoot. Maidstone Park Beach and Louse Point Town Beach in East Hampton are scenic and inspiring to me.
“My process involves very little editing. My personal style is simple; I try to present my subject in the best possible way. With proper lighting and a clear focus, I have been able to convey what I see through the lens.
“One of my goals is for people to see my pictures and to be inspired to go visit the location. I aspire to be more creative. I seek more than just a sunrise or a beach photograph. I am self-taught, but I am always searching for new tools and methods. I look at the work of other photographers with an open mind. I learn so much from looking at an image shot by someone else and asking myself how he or she was able to come to this end result.”
