Two artists known for celebrating countercultures, Peter Dayton (who lives and works in The Springs) and Liz Markus (who splits her time between Brooklyn and Southampton) have garnered robust followings of art lovers of all stripes. The ’60s factor regularly into their works. Markus’ color-saturated pieces are often informed by images from magazines and art-history books, while Dayton’s recent focus is on painted assemblages of Xeroxed copies of favorite album covers.
