Embrace a Slower Pace

MY FAMILY AND I have been coming out East for years, and I remember every summer devouring the latest issue of Hamptons while lounging poolside. This summer is my first as editor in chief, an opportunity I dreamed about when I used to flip through the pages.

We’ve set about giving Hamptons a creative new look, with the goal of providing our readers everything they need to relax, recharge and restore. Several new sections have been added to the magazine, including Open Kitchen, where we cover the East End’s five-star culinary scene; From Within, filled with tips for achieving your inner Zen; and Dressing Up, where you’ll find all the must-have trends, designer profiles and names to know in the fashion world. We’ve also lined up plenty of superstar East Enders to adorn our covers, starting with hardworking mother/actress/activist Mariska Hargitay.

Now that our daydreams of blazing sun, perfect sandy beaches and the blue water of either a warm pool or the crisp sea are reality, it’s finally time to indulge. When I head East this weekend, I plan on dining at the new Serafina in East Hampton and working out at Brownings Fitness in East Hampton and Flywheel Sports in Sag Harbor—and when it’s time to shop, you can find me at 25 Park in Bridgehampton or with the new private shopping consult at Diane von Furstenberg in Southampton.

This first issue speaks to the very essence of the Hamptons, the perfect getaway. So take some time to relax. We’ve all earned it.
