A Well-Curated Day

Everyone has their favorite section of Hamptons magazine, but The List is one page many turn to first. Take a peek at this week’s—I certainly will not reveal how you land on it, but I will say this: Happy Father’s Day. We’ve filled this issue with some spectacular dads, like Channing Daughters’ Christopher Tracy and Carlos Falchi, whose phenomenal shop, Artisan Workshop, recently opened in East Hampton. With this issue, we also celebrate two incredible mothers—cover star Christie Brinkley, who was interviewed exclusively by her daughter Alexa Ray Joel, and author Dr. Peggy Drexler, whose latest book, Our Fathers, Ourselves, celebrates the fathers we toast this Sunday.

Wondering what to do with Dad this Father’s Day? I’ve set my mind to collecting what I believe are perfect days. Each week in this space, I’ll tell you about the experiences, events and businesses I’m most thrilled to have discovered.

For instance, Summer has me on a health kick. Celebrity trainer James D’Silva’s Garuda technique has traveled stateside for the first time, to Bradford Method in Bridgehampton. Favored by Madonna, Sting and Trudie Styler, this blend of yoga, Pilates and dance uses breathing as the principal guiding force, working to fire up the body with warmth and energy, as well as calming the nervous system and creating focus.

I’ve also become quite a fan of juicing. I recommend the Juice Press, which you can find at Wellnest, in Sag Harbor, or at Page at 63 Main, a fantastic new restaurant just down the street with a farmers’ market and a fresh juice bar in the back. I recently indulged in a fresh pineapple and ginger juice at The Juicy Naam before my first class with Maureen at Wellnest’s new bhakti yoga studio; I’m now a repeat visitor to both.

This summer accomplished chefs reign supreme—Nobu opened at the newly renovated Capri, Tutto Il Giorno launched its second location, and my friend David Loewenberg announced Little Red, one of Southampton’s latest additions. Shelter Island is also getting plenty of attention: La Maison Blanche, Alistair MacLean and John Sieni’s reimagining of the former Olde Country Inn, has a garden lounge with a sophisticated menu. I’m hoping to visit soon courtesy of Captain Max Kramer’s Aquatic Adventures, which are chic and exclusive luxury cruises that depart from Sag Harbor and offer everything from lunch on the beach to sunset sails with food and wine, including rosé and lobster rolls on the sundeck. Divine, no?

Enjoy the weekend, and a toast to my husband, David, the most wonderful father. He’s pictured above with our daughter, Sadie, enjoying the best creation ever—the perfect cone from the Ice Cream Club in Sag Harbor.

Happy Father's Day,
