Fashion, Food & Fun
Now that the Fourth of July is behind us, we find ourselves at the height of the fun summer season. It’s time to unwind and enjoy some of the things that we in the Hamptons do best: shop for fabulous fashions, dine in our delicious restaurants, entertain at home and attend unique and special events.
Come see us this weekend at ArtHamptons in Bridgehampton’s Sayre Park. ArtHamptons is known for attracting the serious art collector, and proceeds benefit our community’s cultural organizations, including Guild Hall, the Bridgehampton Historical Society and the Parrish Art Museum.
Speaking of the Parrish, one of the most spectacular summer events out East is its Midsummer Party, which takes place this Saturday. The fête will recognize and honor founding partners of the new Parrish Art Museum; next year it will be held in conjunction with the opening of the museum’s new location, currently being built on the north side of Main Road next to Duckwalk Vineyards (you can see it going up as you drive from Southampton to Water Mill). The new museum will be an extraordinary 615-foot-long modern structure designed by renowned architecture firm Herzog & de Meuron. I am so excited to see the Parrish’s completed transformation. And if you are attending the party, don’t forget to look for your issue of Hamptons in the goody bag!
Over the past few years, I’ve had so much fun working with cover stars Beth Ostrosky Stern and Katie Lee. It’s always a joy to be around these lovely women. Last summer we hosted a great dinner at Savanna’s with London Jewelers to celebrate Beth’s cover. I also had the pleasure of hosting Katie at the home of dear friend and editor-at-large Michael Braverman at our Authors Night dinner, benefiting the East Hampton Library. Katie and I also toasted the Montauk Yacht Club’s 80th anniversary together two summers ago with Andrew Farkas and MYC’s general manager Lloyd Van Horn; she cooked up her famous burgers, and they were delicious.
So as the summer picks up, the ocean waters get warmer and you can see the fireflies at dusk, remember to grab your favorite warm-weather outfit, sample our restaurants’ scrumptious fare and have some fun. See you in town.
