Sincerely and Fashionably
This is my first summer as editor in chief of Hamptons, and after years of working in the fashion industry, I sometimes miss going to the collections—seeing the girls walking in the shows, ogling accessories in the showrooms and spotting the trends. Luckily, I got to dive back into that world while editing this issue, and this weekend extends the experience a little longer. It all starts Friday, when Haley Binn and I host a lunch for 50 fabulous ladies at the Bridgehampton Tennis and Surf Club with La Perla and Fred Leighton. Eventeur David Stark is doing the event, looks from La Perla will be modeled and the girls will don Leighton’s jewelry.
What could be better, you ask? A nonstop Saturday of fashion from sun up to sun down, starring the event everyone has been looking forward to all season: Super Saturday. Twilight cutie Ashley Greene cohosts at this year’s installment, and I’ll be shopping up a storm, from pillows by Madeline Weinrib to Lanvin bags from Rachel Zoe’s booth, “Designers A to Zoe”. The daylong garage-sale-style event—underwritten by Donna Karan, QVC and InStyle—raised more than $3.4 million in 2009, and this year promises to be even bigger.
Speaking of InStyle, former editor Toby Tucker Peters has put together an eponymous golf line, and the likes of Melanie Charlton Fascitelli and Emilia Fanjul are hosting an event at The Bridge golf club to celebrate its launch. Even if you don’t play the game, I promise this will make you want to start.
Finally, there’s the always fabulous Cocktails at Sunset, the annual fundraiser to benefit the AIDS Community Research Initiative of America. Cosponsored by the Calvin Klein Collection and Vanity Fair, it will be set amid the grounds of renowned photographer Steven Klein’s private horse farm estate in Bridgehampton.
Get plenty of rest—you’re going to need it! Be well, dress well,
Editor in Chief
