To Give Is to Receive

As we leave July behind, there is no better place to enjoy the dog days of August than on the East End. Why is that? Because of the neverending parade of charitable events, of course. Slip on your most comfortable shoes this weekend and celebrate arguably the most famous of these, Super Saturday. Hosted by Donna Karan, Ariel Foxman and Kelly Ripa, this year’s installment takes place on the grounds of Nova’s Ark Project and includes seemingly limitless shopping and activities for the entire family. Support the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund while enjoying amazing deals from more than 200 fabulous designers.

Saturday also boasts Russell Simmons’ 12th annual Art For Life event, which benefits art programs throughout New York City. The evening honors Mary J. Blige, and there is a highly anticipated performance by Jennifer Hudson. These and other benefits like them may crowd your social calendar, but one that you cannot forget is the sixth annual Hamptons Trunk Show on August 4 at the Bridgehampton Historical Society, to benefit the UJA-Federation of New York.

The Hamptons’ sensational philanthropic events are not all we celebrate this issue, however. We turn our spotlight on the beautiful village of Amagansett. The town and its stretch of beach perfectly personify the East End’s restful and relaxed summer atmosphere and make an ideal place to enjoy your favorite water activity. This week we also pay homage to one of the Hamptons’ bright stars: Our cover features Bravo’s pop-culture pundit, producer and on-air host Andy Cohen, who has been responsible for the development and production of more than two dozen award-winning shows.

With so much to keep us busy, this weekend and the days ahead will not disappoint. Remember, the summer is not over yet; we have so much more to see and do before Labor Day. Grab your sun hat and your sandals and get out and about. I will see you in town!
