All Together Now
ALWAYS MOVE FORWARD, don’t look back (at least, not too often). That’s my mantra, and it really is the heartbeat of America as well.
In this issue, we highlight the essence of that at the new Race Lane restaurant in East Hampton. In a dramatic transformation, the original Norman Jaffe landmark got a light and airy face-lift that makes it truly feel like the Hamptons. Meanwhile, the rest of the culinary scene out East is also flourishing, with the opening of South Edison, from chef Todd Mitgang, in Montauk; Laurent Tourondel’s LT Burger, in Sag Harbor; and the David Graziano designed, Southampton-based RDV East, where you can have cocktails in a cabana bed on a sandy beach. What’s not to love?
It’s now officially summertime, which means it’s all about easy weekend choices for fashion. From neutral necklaces to adorable summer sunnies, accessories are a great place to start. But it wouldn’t be a proper July Fourth if we didn’t also splash some red, white and blue across our pages. Cover girl Kyra Sedgwick wears one proudly, donning a stunning fire-engine-red dress from Bottega Veneta.
To help you get perfectly coiffed for this long weekend, New York City’s famed Blow, the New York Blow Dry Bar, is doing a pop-up location in Theory’s East Hampton store. Blow is known for simply done tresses and, now, impeccable timing (you know we’re on a schedule here!).
Finally, Elie Tahari partners with the CFDA to promote several jewelry designers—including Irene Neuwirth and Patricia von Musulin—in the ultimate show of teamwork. It’s the one word I associate most with this weekend. The core of the American spirit is the belief that everyone supports the people around them, whether they’re family, colleagues or friends. The Hamptons team is one that is enthusiastic and undeniably talented, working together to deliver this magazine to you every week. I want to thank them and everyone who is part of my team for your constant support.
