Beers on tap at Zum Schneider MTK

Hamptons editor in chief Samantha Yanks sums up the season with a guide to what’s new and notable on the East End.

BIERGARTENS

Zum Schneider MTK
All of the beers at Zum’s East Village original—including the ever-popular Schneider Weisse—can be found in the new Montauk biergarten that’s soft opening on May 18. Cuisine will focus heavily on seafood, with dishes like scallops on sauerkraut topping the menu. 4 South Elmwood Ave, Montauk, 238-5963; zumschneider.com

The Hamptons Players Club
Locavores and polo enthusiasts alike should pay a visit to this new equestrian-themed club, opening May 25. Chef Hector Diaz, formerly of Le Flirt, is committed to using fresh ingredients, housing his own herb garden at the restaurant. Try the bourbon-glazed chicken wings and fresh fruit- and herb-infused cocktails served in Mason jars. 103 Montauk Hwy., East Hampton, 324-1663

BOOTCAMPS

East Hampton Boot Camp
Take your workout to the beach with trainer Carson Hilliard, who uses sports-focused drills and unique circuits coupled with the natural resistance of the sand to tone and strengthen muscles. Classes will be held at Amagansett Youth Park, but Hilliard also offers in-home, semi-private, and personal training classes. 216 Abrahams Path, East Hampton, 533-2920; easthamptonbootcamp.com

Barry’s Bootcamp
Fans of the New York City location of Barry’s will be pleasantly surprised to see their favorite trainers at the new Wainscott outpost. Keep an eye out for Amanda Seyfried, who will be taking classes there this summer. Other Barry’s fans include P. Diddy and Kimora Lee Simmons. Classes are set to begin on May 26. 352 Montauk Hwy., Wainscott, 537-2668; barrysbootcamp.com

BARBECUE

The Millers’ BBQ
Executive chef and owner Eric Miller is the real deal: he spent time in the south and learned to barbecue from Alabama pitmasters. Brisket and ribs smoked in cherry and oak have “skin like bark and meat like butter,” and the organic rotisserie chicken and Long Island duck offer lighter alternatives. The Millers’ BBQ is primarily take-out, with some outdoor seating. 282 Pantigo Road, East Hampton, 329-8120; themillersbbq.net

Smokin’ Wolf BBQ & More
There’s plenty of kitsch and family-friendly fun at Smokin’ Wolf. Try the combination platter with five different types of barbecue, the chili-topped burger, and the signature Giddy Up cocktail—served in a cowboy boot. 221 Pantigo Rd., East Hampton, 324-7166

Prime Butcher & Baker
The Upper East Side kosher market—favored by Hamptonites Ralph Lauren, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Mayor Bloomberg—now offers Hamptons delivery of its dry-aged meats, prepared foods, and parve baked goods. BB Prime charges a fee of $20 for Westhampton and $45 for all other locations. 212-616-1502; primebutcherbaker.com
