There are few actors better suited for success in connection with the fabled towns of the Hamptons than Mark Feuerstein, a gregarious, Manhattan-born 39-yearold who long dreamed of living our brand of the good life. As young men, he and his brother, Eric, fantasized that the goings-on of East End summers— chronicled in magazines such as this one—would someday be their own. “Eric and I would get salads from Loaves & Fishes, grab a Hamptons from Bridgehampton Candy Kitchen and sit reading it on Gibson Beach, wondering about our lives to come,” he remembers.

He’s still fantasizing, in a way: Feuerstein currently portrays “concierge doctor” Hank Lawson, the central figure of USA Network’s hit series Royal Pains, tending to the needs of highbrow Hamptons eccentrics and everyday Joes alike. The backstory: When Dr. Lawson is wrongly accused of a powerful patient’s death and disgraced among his peers, he sets up shop in the East End, offering himself as a medical hired gun to the rich, all the while treating the area’s less fortunate at a clinic. The show films on location throughout the South Fork and in Brooklyn, and it has given the tenacious, talented Feuerstein the role of a lifetime.
