Eventstyle, the Hamptons outpost of event planner Mark Addison’s firm, brings fresh offerings to the East End
When it comes to yard sales, the first image that springs to one’s mind is a patchy stretch of grass littered with tchotchkes guaranteed to give you buyer’s remorse. Mark Addison has a different connotation: As the founder of Eventstyle, an award-winning design firm, the entertaining and design guru has been responsible for producing what just may be the chicest yard sale around, Super Saturday.
Now in his 11th year overseeing the annual fundraiser to benefit the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, Addison isn’t resting on his laurels. The master party planner has expanded from his company’s Manhattan location into a Hamptons outpost in East Hampton. Eventstyle—a full-service event company that has planned gatherings for everyone from Levi’s and Spanx to Shiseido, E!, and American Idol has made headlines with several high-profile soirées, such as the 13 Summer House in Fire Island and the L’Oréal Legends Gala, where Addison and his employees take charge of every detail, from the florals to the menus to the lighting. “I’m a locavore,” he says of his new Hamptons office. “I like the freshness of everything out here.”
Addison’s arrival also means his own “fresh” offerings that cater solely to the East End, namely, his self-designed cocktail bars, which serve bespoke concoctions. “It’s interactive and fun,” he says. “We have a list of different types of ingredients you can choose from, herbs, fruits, red peppers, avocados, even a new gazpacho flavor.”
On another DIY note, Addison will be rolling out even more experiential events by way of his brand-new home-entertaining party series, fittingly named Entertain U. Addison will host an event either at his house or yours, conceptualizing a theme, even giving guests specific tasks. “It’s really for people who want to be the hostess of their dreams, become a better entertainer, and still let loose at their own parties,” he says.
Luckily, shoppers can experience all of Addison’s South Fork-inspired ideas this week at Super Saturday 15, including those signature makeyour- own drinks. “I’m excited for people to try them out,” he says of the charity’s 15th anniversary event, which will have several new surprises. “It will definitely add a fun, different element this year.” 24 Miller Lane, East Hampton, 212-924-7626
