Did You Know
In the 1600s, the Montaukett tribe sold land in present-day East Hampton to English colonist Lion Gardiner for “a large black dog, some powder and shot, and a few Dutch blankets.” Today real estate in town doesn’t come quite so affordable. Boasting world-class beaches, award-winning restaurants, an international film festival and a history as an artists’ haven (one that has nurtured the likes of Jackson Pollock and Willem de Kooning), East Hampton is home to some of the most coveted real estate in the world.
