Why did you decide to sell homes together?
We decided to work together because the customers and clients can reap the benefit from our individual strengths. [Jim’s] negotiating and selling skills are great, while [Elaine’s] marketing and branding background is a plus. We’re also a tag team at times, which helps get double the work done. Our motto, “Let the strength of two work for you,” really does apply.
What are some tips you can give a seller?
A good seller is one who is educated to the current market and is realistic in pricing in relation to recent comparative homes sold. A good seller also has all the permits in place and is willing to negotiate realistically when an offer is made.
Which towns do you think are better for buyers?
In our area, the Quogue and Westhampton Beach markets are the best to buy and sell because of the proximity to the city, to town and to the beaches. Values hold strong, and you can buy more for your money in these towns than farther East.
Where do you spend most of your time out East?
Our personal favorite town is Quogue, where we live. It’s a quaint country village loaded with charm; the private ocean beach and low taxes only add to this. Our home is a beautiful contemporary with a pool and tennis court and country French décor—inviting, cozy and great for entertaining.
